Misticeti is an electronic music artist from Colombia. He creates psychedelic grooves with ancestral flow.

Misticeti creates a fresh take on electronic music that merges analogue basslines, folk percussion, tints of latin american surf rock and psychedelic atmospheres. Two forces come together in his music: one which pulls towards the dancefloor and the other to introspection. Gathering inspiration from some of his favorite artists from the UK, like Radiohead, Boards of Canada, Bonobo and Four Tet, he adds his Latin American spirit to this mix. The result is an uncanny sound that is left field, mystical and groovy.

Misticeti is set out to release 2 EPs on 2023 with the label LOCI.

Misticeti’s debut track “Mirage” is out now. Stream on your favorite platform!

Mirage is a sonic exploration of the enigmatic Colombian desert, uncovering its kaleidoscopic shapes as dusk approaches. With a deep analogue bass line, Latin American guitars and psychedelic synths, the song radiates mystical and playful vibes in equal measure. Drawing inspiration from the natural wonders of his native Colombia, Misticeti brings these natural visions to life through folk-inspired and groovy electronic music.

The Origins of Misticeti

While filming documentaries in remote regions of his native Colombia, where afro communities settled centuries ago, Juan Manuel Vásquez heard the mysterious sounds of Humpback whales that migrated through the pacific coast. His sudden connection with this creature (named Mysticeti by marine scientists) sparked a musical exploration blending organic and electronic elements. This marked the beginning of his first solo-project: Misticeti

Combining his passion for music and filmmaking, he earned years of experience producing and scoring commercials for international brands. Now, in his endeavor as an artist, Misticeti applies his storytelling sensibility to create an authentic sound. Like the whale, he dives in the depths of the ocean and comes to the surface to share his truth. A truth about balance between the playful and the mystical.

The official Mirage video is out. Check it out on Youtube and chill to the surf-rock inspired vibes.
